iML, a battery management and chip design subsidiary of American IC design company Exar, was bought by E-Town Capital and CHIPONE on Nov 10 for 150 million RMB.

iML is an international advanced battery management, color calibration and LED lightning applier. Its main products are programmable gamma correction snubber circuit chips, public drive chips, batter management chips, LED lightning chips; its P-GAMA products and VCOM products are leading in its area.

iML, listed on the Taiwan F stock exchange, was sold to Exar in 2014. Its revenue accounts for one third of that of Exar.

On Jun 2 this year, E-Town Capital signed an acquisition agreement with Exar, effective five months later. 

The cooperation of CHIPONE and iML has a bright future as CHIPONE is focused on LCD display, LED display and LED lightning IC design companies. Technologically, CHIPONE and iML are focused in the same area; they have a lot of the same companies in their supply chains so that the product quality will be improved; and in marketing iML's worldwide customers will help CHIPONE to spread its sales. Together they have potential to be the leading IC enterprise in the world.

In addition, the integrated office of CHIPONE and iML will be located in the Beijing Economic and Development Area which is an important national integrated circuit industry base with a complete industrial chain for manufacturing, equipment, accessories, material and design enterprises. It houses half of Beijing's integrated circuit industries.
